Black straps and a black logo on an orange sandal.
We use a high quality latex surgical tubing for the strap assembly that is durable, plyable and holds the sandal to the bottom of your feet much better than a traditional flip flop - reducing the heel slapping noise associated with this style of footwear. These assemblies are quite durable and can last for years. We sell inexpensive replacement assemblies that can be used to refurbish old sandals - though many people order them to try different colors.
Because we use a closed cell foam that is laminated, these sandals are both waterproof and they float - making them perfect for boating and watersports, water and amusement parks and spending time at the beach or lake shore. The three layer model measures roughly 1+1/8" and the two layer is roughly 1+1/16" thick.

Presenting the worlds most comfortable sandal. You can only find these in surf shops and tourist shops along the Gulf Coast, and usually you will find the racks sold out. "
Two surfers, artists and inventors first come up with the idea of making a comfortable sandal in the early 1970’s: They invented what would become Pirate Brand Sandals in 1973 – making them in their father’s boat barn in Pasadena, Texas. The first few pairs were given away to friends – who spread the word and created a demand for more sandals.
This is the original orange sandal that Kevin Bruce Brown and his brother Dwight invented in 1973. They updated the brand and the logo and introduced a new and improved strap design in 1987.
Kevin spends a lot of money having the best quality laminated foam delivered to his shop each week - materials that he uses to make a superior sandal. It's softer, more durable, longer lasting, more flexible and more comfortable than any shoe or sandal you can find on the retail shelf today. Those mass produced hard foam sandals that are sold across the United States today are not only bad for our economy - they are bad for your FEET!

Pirate Brand Sandals are made from a laminated, closed cell soft foam material. We start with a tough, durable sole that features a slip resistant traction pattern on the bottom. Next, we include a support layer of soft that is much softer than the sole, but provides support. The top layer is the softest of the three, providing a comfortable, cushioned support for your feet.
